Can't get away from those orange flowers!
Mushrooms at the side of the road
Those look more like cow pies than mushrooms
Ornage flowers again in front of some interesting rock formation.
I believe these are bush sunflowers

A new day, a new place to explore. Since I can't cross the river to get to Beef Basin, I'll ride to Davis and Lavendar Canyons instead.
On a side spur in Davis Canyon, we see Six Shooter Peak (right) and North Six Shooter Peak (left)
Another view of Six Shooter Peak
From the side, it's clear why it's called Six Shooter.
The end of Davis Canyon, at least for me, was very sandy and already populated.
The route to Lavendar Canyon is blocked by Indian Creek, just like the route to Beef Basin is.
Because of Indian Creek, this is about as close to some Needles as I'll get.

This road looks like it will take you all the way to Island in the Sky. Of course it doesn't. Also there's the little matter of the Colorado River between here and there.

More needles and orange flowers

Bush sunflowers next to a streambed in the morning.
