On the other side of the valley, the ridgeline is almost as spectacular

Moving about a mile down from the end of the road, another lookout provides a slightly different view of the ridges and valleys falling to the Napali Coast

Zoom in on the previous picture and you at least four waterfalls!

The starting point of our hike to the top of Waipa'a Falls

We take the Canyon Trail out and the Black Pipe Trail back

The guidebook said the trail was lined with fire ginger and yellow orchids, so I presume this is yellow orchid. There was lots of it!

We went to the right

The trail is still a road for a few hundred feet further. It's listed as a 4x4 road, but it was in good shape and we saw a couple of 2-wheel drive cars on it.

The end of the road, from here it's trail.

We went left here. Since we came back a different way, we never made it to the viewpoint. The guidebook said that we'd see just as good or better along the Canyon Trail anyway.
