At the start of our trip, we saw these flowers at our hotel.
Stopping to look at one of the many many beaches, chickens strut around the cars. Wild chickens are almost everywhere in Kauai.

One of the beaches we saw along the drive
Kauai is known as "The Garden Island" for good reason. These flowers, on trees, were everywhere.
Over ten days, we never saw big waves, but lots of chop like this
Some of the beaches are pretty rocky
Within walking distance of the Kanapali Coast trailhead, we stopped to look at the Maniniholo Dry Cave
The entrance is pretty big. Those 'posts' are palm trees on the outside

At the trailhead for the Napali Coast at last, for the Kalalau Trail
Hanakapi'ai Falls is where we're headed!
Lots of warning signs at the trailhead!
Tourist activities need to be taken care of before we embark!
The trail is a pretty steep climb from the start, and paved with rocks for the horses and mules that used to use the trail
As well as rocks, there are lots of roots to form steps to help us up
A look back. We started at that beach on the right.
It is very dark here with all the growth around us, so some of the photos show motion blur
The Napali Coast is very popular, and people look at it from all angles. This was the first of many many helicopters we saw...
... Seconds later, this was the second one.
