See the trail ahead of us, way up there?
This looks like an old cattle pond to me
South of us, the ridges are really rocky. Another trail leads in that direction, but we're going north from here.
A closer view of the rocky ridge to the south, with the trail cut visible below it.
Our trail climbs very steeply from the cattle pond
The fastest two of our group decided to explore the south ridge while we continued plodding up to Gaviota Peak. They eventually got there before we did!
Trespass Trail continues up and up, generally headed north here.

Looking back and west
Looking south, one of our group is on the trail below us
A bright red growth on this manzanita bush.
More morning glories
Up here, the trail isn't as wide as it used to be.
Looking ahead, the trail is a bit overgrown
It was a bit hazy, but we could still see a long way to the east along the coast
Looking south
There is interesting geological features west of us
The trail continues up!
The view to the west
Nearing the top, we see more ocean and less mountains when we look south
Two of our group cresting the hill above us
Someone has built a small stone monument up here
More manzanita
I don't know what these white flowers are called, but there were lots of them here beside the trail.
At the peak, at last!
The Gaviota Peak Fireroad continues east. Some of us went out to the highest point seen in this photo.
