{"id":1019,"date":"2013-01-11T15:24:45","date_gmt":"2013-01-11T23:24:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.venturacountytrails.org\/WP\/?p=1019"},"modified":"2022-08-03T10:04:59","modified_gmt":"2022-08-03T17:04:59","slug":"conejo-open-space-challenge-starts-february-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/venturacountytrails.org\/WP\/2013\/01\/11\/conejo-open-space-challenge-starts-february-1\/","title":{"rendered":"Conejo Open Space Challenge Starts February 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.venturacountytrails.org\/WP\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/IMG_32311.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1020\" title=\"The lower group is at the Satna Rosa Trail proper\" src=\"http:\/\/www.venturacountytrails.org\/WP\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/IMG_32311-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/venturacountytrails.org\/WP\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/IMG_32311-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/venturacountytrails.org\/WP\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/IMG_32311.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>From February 1 through May 1, 2013, mountain bikers, hikers, trail runners and equestrians of all ages are challenged to experience ten of the best and most beautiful multi-use trails in the Conejo Open Space Conservation Agency (COSCA).\u00a0 This is a \u201cvirtual\u201d event, where you will take photos of specific landmarks along trails and email them in for validation to show you have completed all of the event\u2019s trail segments.\u00a0 The goal is to create a unique event to benefit COSCA that involves all trail users, from people completely unfamiliar with the trails to long time veterans.\u00a0 Participants who complete all 10 segments by May 1 will be entered into a raffle to win prizes donated by event sponsors: Michaels Bicycles, Roadrunner Sports, Boney Mountain Coffee, and Billy D\u2019z BBQ.\u00a0 Prizes will also be given for best photos as judged by the Conejo Open Space Foundation (cosf.org). Expect them to be moderately paced, covering 4-6 miles, except for the first one that is only 2 miles but includes an introduction to geocaching.
