We took a short trip up a side canyon just below Mooney Falls.
Finding a path through the fallen rocks that block the entrance to the canyon
Beyond the rockfall, there's a huge chute above us!
Looking down at the rockfall blocking the canyon
Time to find the way back out
Back in the main canyon, this stream flows into Havasu Creek
The little stream tumbles down to Havasu Creek
A support structure for ladders, from days gone by
The top of Mooney Falls is still visible
A little downstream, a very pretty falls. We'll see dozens, and perhaps hundreds, of these before our hike is over!
Wild grapes growing along the trail
The wild grapes took over this part of the canyon!
Mineral deposits where the stream used to flow
The water here is much more blue than it was further upstream
The trail wasn't always flat and easy
Often the trail would cross the stream, but it wasn't cold
This is about where we turned around and headed back upstream
