Over the years, the dirt had 'crept' down the slope so it was about 6" higher above the step-over than below it. These folks were moving that dirt back up the hill and filling in the trail rut with it.

We also cut back brush that was growing into the trail. Here we're disposing of some of the cuttings so they can't be seen from the trail.

There were long, deep ruts so we moved a lot of dirt to fill them in.
